Speaking guide

Clarity first. Speed second.

Tongue twisters make similar sounds repeat in quick succession. A sensible practice routine focuses on comfortable, accurate speech before speed.

1. Read the words before you race

Look through the whole passage. Mark words that repeat and sound combinations that are easy to mix up. Check unfamiliar words in a reliable learner's dictionary.

2. Practise slowly in short segments

Speak one line at a steady pace. Pay attention to the beginning and ending consonants. Say it again only when you can make the words comfortably and clearly.

3. Join the lines together

Connect two lines, then try the complete passage. A smooth rhythm often makes pronunciation more consistent than trying to rush.

4. Record and listen to yourself

If you choose to enable your microphone, use SagotMo!'s in-browser replay to compare what you intended to say with what you actually said. A quiet room and a stable microphone help.

5. Try a timed practice

Start with 30 seconds for short phrases. For longer passages, use 60 or 120 seconds. Count a repetition only when you have completed the entire displayed text, not just the first line.

6. Compare progress fairly

Use the same passage and timer in repeat sessions. Automatic counts rely on device speech recognition and may miss spoken words, so use replay and a careful self-review for practice. A formal competition needs clear rules and an independent judge.

Tip: Pause if speaking feels strained. This is a fun speaking exercise, not a medical test or a measure of a person's intelligence.
